Lauren B. Peña for Congress:

Economic Platform

Everyone talks about helping working families.
Washington keeps making their lives harder.

I am running to change that.

Prosperity does not come from reckless spending, endless bailouts, or dependence on foreign powers. It comes from restoring discipline, rewarding work, and putting American families first.

I will fight to restore economic sanity by lowering taxes, increasing take-home pay, and enforcing a balanced budget. No more blank checks. No more corporate bailouts. No more mortgaging our children’s future to satisfy Washington insiders.

I will unleash American energy so families are never forced to choose between groceries and electricity. Energy independence is not an environmental issue. It is a national security issue and a cost-of-living issue.

I will secure the border with real enforcement, protect taxpayers from fraud and abuse, and restore the rule of law. A nation without borders cannot protect its workers, its communities, or its most vulnerable citizens.

I will expand opportunity by restoring vocational and skills-based training, standing up to unfair trade practices, and ensuring welfare is a bridge to work not a permanent dependency trap. Work should always be rewarded. Dependency should never be incentivized.

And I will ensure America leads the world in innovation and artificial intelligence, not at the expense of our people, but for their benefit. New technologies must grow our economy, create opportunity, and protect American workers from exploitation by Big Tech monopolies and foreign competitors.

This is not about chasing wealth.
It is about stewardship, responsibility, and justice.

As 1 Timothy 6:10 reminds us:
“For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.”

Government should serve the people, not enrich itself at their expense.
I am running to restore order, integrity, and prosperity for working families.

Healthcare Agenda

Everyone says they want better healthcare.
Washington keeps giving us more bureaucracy.

I am running to change that.

Healthcare should serve patients, not lobbyists, insurers, or federal agencies. Today, unelected bureaucrats drive up costs, delay care, and interfere with medical decisions that belong between a patient and their doctor.

I will restore the doctor–patient relationship by ending federal overreach and returning decision-making to families and medical professionals. Healthcare should be personal, local, and guided by medical judgment and conscience, not dictated from Washington.

I will open competition across state lines, require transparent hospital pricing, and expand Health Savings Accounts so families control their own healthcare dollars. When patients control their care, costs come down, access improves, and innovation increases.

I will protect families, faith, and conscience by defending the rights of healthcare providers, safeguarding parental authority, and ensuring that government does not force one-size-fits-all mandates on deeply personal medical decisions.

This is not about politics.

It is about restoring trust.

A healthcare system that prioritizes bureaucracy over healing is broken. I am running to put patients first and return compassion, accountability, and common sense to medicine.

As Jeremiah 30:17 reminds us:

“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the Lord.”

Healthcare should heal.

And government should know its place.

Human Rights Agenda

Everyone talks about human rights.
Too many mean government control.

I am running to defend liberty, not manage it.

At home, human rights begin with freedom. I will protect free speech, the free exercise of faith, and the Second Amendment. I will oppose federal targeting of citizens and ensure equal protection under the law, not selective enforcement based on politics or ideology.

Strong nations are built on strong families. I will defend parental rights, keep radical political agendas out of classrooms, and safeguard children from exploitation, coercion, and abuse. Children are not wards of the state. They are the responsibility of families.

Abroad, human rights are not slogans. They are action. I will confront human trafficking as organized crime, dismantle trafficking networks, and ensure survivors are rescued and protected. I will stand against religious persecution and oppose tyrannies that crush human dignity, exploit the vulnerable, and traffic in fear.

Liberty is not negotiable.

Dignity is not optional.

And justice must be applied equally.

A government that violates the rights of its own people cannot credibly defend rights anywhere else. I am running to restore moral clarity, lawful authority, and courage to American leadership.

As Proverbs 28:5 reminds us:

“Evildoers do not understand what is right, but those who seek the Lord understand it fully.”

Human rights are not granted by government.

They are endowed by God and secured by a free people.

Legislation I Will Introduce and Pass in Congress:

Everyone says they want to “fight human trafficking.” Very few understand how it actually happens.Even fewer have a plan to stop it. As a survivor, I do.

SAFE NIGHTS Act:
Safeguarding Against Forced Exploitation in Nightlife Through Hiring Standards

Human trafficking does not only happen in dark alleys. It happens in plain sight.

Based on my lived experience, adult entertainment venues including bars, clubs, and strip clubs are routinely used to exploit minors, undocumented individuals, and vulnerable Americans through misclassification, cash labor, and coercive working conditions.

My team and I are already drafting this legislation and its enforcement language. This is not a concept. It is an active policy proposal.

The SAFE NIGHTS Act would require workers in these establishments to be classified as employees, not independent contractors.

Why this matters:

  • Employee classification requires lawful identity and age verification.

  • It creates documentation that helps prevent the exploitation of minors and undocumented workers.

  • It enforces labor standards, including the 40-hour work week, making forced confinement easier to detect.

  • It exposes 24-hour venues operating with beds, showers, and living quarters where individuals are kept working against their will.

  • It creates accountability where none currently exists.

  • It reduces welfare fraud by closing the under-the-table income loophole.

This is not about shaming workers. This is about cutting traffickers off from their business model.

I saw women and girls, some minors, some from other countries, trapped in these places for weeks at a time. Armed men. Showers. Rooms. Patrons had no idea that what was entertainment to them was terror to us. It was so normalized that I did not even know it was trafficking. That is how this crime survives.

If you are a survivor, an advocate, or an organization fighting human trafficking, I encourage you to reach out. Your insight matters, and your experience strengthens this effort. Together, we can pass this essential bill. I am not running to talk about the problem.

I am running to fix it.

#humantraffickingawareness

Everyone says they want justice for victims. Very few are willing to confront the systems that protect predators. As a survivor, I am.

SEX OFFENDER DETERRENCE ACT (SODA)
Restoring Accountability in the Federal Prison System

Sexual violence does not end at conviction. But accountability too often does.

Today, I am announcing my intent to introduce the Sex Offender Deterrence Act (SODA) when I am elected to Congress.

For decades, federal policy has automatically placed convicted sex offenders including pedophiles, rapists, child molesters, and human traffickers into protective custody the moment they enter federal prison.

That protection is not based on individualized threat assessments. It is automatic. It is systemic. And it is wrong.

What SODA Does:
SODA ends the blanket practice of granting protective custody to sexual predators upon intake into federal prison.

Under this legislation:
· Protective custody will no longer be automatic.
· The Bureau of Prisons must conduct individualized, documented threat assessments before granting special housing.
·  Preferential treatment will be removed unless a specific, verified safety risk exists.
·  Accountability replaces entitlement.

Why This Matters

Victims were never protected.
As a survivor of human trafficking, I know what it means to be unprotected, unseen, and unheard.
No protective custody shielded us from violence.
No system stepped in to prevent our suffering.

Yet the very individuals who inflicted that harm enter prison and immediately receive safeguards their victims never had.

That is not justice. That is moral failure.

SODA restores balance.

·  It removes an unjust privilege.
·  It strengthens deterrence.
·  It affirms that predators are not entitled to special treatment.
·  It places the justice system back on the side of victims and public safety.

This is not about cruelty. It is about consequences. We cannot operate a system that protects offenders more than it protects the American people. We cannot call ourselves a nation of justice while shielding those who targeted the innocent. This bill is personal. And I intend to fight for it with everything I have.
